Oyama Regional Park
Oyama is located 5 kilometres east of Kronau. The name Oyama originates from a dam and water tower that C.P. Rail built to fill passing steam engines. The station - named Oyama after a Japanese general - was located between Kronau and Lajord. Oyama dam - in its present location - was built by the PFRA in 1947 as a water reservoir. It was reconstructed in the late summer and fall of 1948, after the first damn broke in the spring.
Oyama became a regional park in 1963 and has drawn people from all over south Saskatchewan.
At the park you can find cozy camping spots, go fishing, swimming or play on the beach. There is also an area for beach volleyball, as well as ball diamonds. Other features include picnic area, concession and summer kitchen, great for family reunions and staff parties.
